Up the hill to the silver mines in Guanajuato

Most joined the tour on Saturday morning. We visited an old mine and some other stuff, including mummies and torture equipment from the Inquisition. Most just wanted to walk around town and soak up the atmosphere of this town, which was founded in about 1550. The first Spaniards arrived in Guanajuato around 1521, about two years after Cortés invaded Mexico. The following pictures are the remains of one of the richest veins of gold and silver EVER discovered anywhere. There are still about twenty mines around the city. Mexico is a leading producer of gold and silver today.
